Internships
Why are internships required?
Internships are educational work experiences that cannot be duplicated in the classroom setting. Most of our students find internships that are paid and learn exactly what it means to be a professional Horticulturist. Internships are typically done over the summer and last about three months but sometimes they can last longer. You could find yourself working alongside fellow Horticulturist at botanical gardens, farmers' markets, professional sports teams, golf courses, organic farms and many others.
"I fufilled horticulture internship at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House. My time there was a great way to gain hands-on experience, to try new things, and to see some of the real-world challenges in the field. Interning allowed me to truly experience what a career in horticulture entails. I made amazing connections and friends and learned so much from my horticulture internship!"
